MOTHER/SON and DADDY/DAUGHTER NIGHTS

Due to popular demand, we will be having a Mother/Son movie night again this year. Mark your calendar for Friday, March 26.

The Daddy/Daughter dance will be Friday, April 16. More information will be coming home.

5^th GRADE GREAT AMERICAN AWARD

Congratulations to all fifth graders who have passed off the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, Gettysburg Address, and presidents. You are doing great!

We need parent volunteers to help with our pass-off days. If you are willing to help or if you have any questions, please contact Diane Chatwin at 801-768-2045 or chatwins@msn.com.

Our next pass-off day will be Friday, March 26. Be working on requirement #5: Recite from memory the 50 states and capitals in alphabetical order by state.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Congratulations to our Student Council for March:

SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Minutes from Wednesday, January 27:

Budget - Approved the change from purchasing SMART BOARDS to ELMO projectors. Mr. Becker^,s goal is to have an ELMO and projector in every classroom by next year.

Mr. Becker had Mrs. Lewis explain how she is using Readers Theater to teach 1^st through 3^rd grade classes during specialty rotations. Trust Land monies provide her funding.

Mrs. Simpson explained some of the practical ways she uses the ELMO to teach students in her classroom. She listed the following:

- Art projects

- Word definitions

- Math games

- Patterning

- Posters

- Instructions

She also talked about R.A.Z. Kids reading program and how it provides appropriate leveled readers.

S.C.C. elections will need to be held for Emily Hansen^,s position by this April.

The next S.C.C. meetings were scheduled for March 17^th and April 14^th.

Mr. Becker expressed appreciation for all committee members attendance and for their support of the students here at Eaglecrest.
